I was going to share wonderful news with you yesterday. One of my photographs won second place in an art show. I was excited because the judges were all outside professionals who did not have any affiliation with my college. It means a lot to me that people without any knowledge of who the photographer was, judged my work solely on what it had to offer and picked my photograph among the various mediums displayed in the show (drawing, painting, embroidery, photography, etc.). I'm thinking of posting them here sometime soon, but probably after the show is over because I want local people to go look at them there, as they are for sale. Unfortunately, I didn’t have time to write up a journal yesterday, as I was cramming in some homework that was due last night. So, I figured that I would do it today… Well, now good news is overshadowed by bad. Never hesitate.

For the past few months, every month, a family member of mine has died. We almost made it through May. This morning my grandma passed away. As always, so much is lost. These sorts of things always upset the balance, peace, and shake the ties of a family's world. It is becoming quite disheartening to play my part in each of these events again and again: going through tons of old photographs, fixing them in Photoshop, making prayer cards, and then extra photo prints for family and friends that want them.

I really hope this cruel monthly trend is done because it wore out its welcome day one.

I really should be worrying about homework and projects for school right now, but I can’t get anywhere with that. Back to scanning and Photoshop.
